ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS (A.A) AT A GLANCE
The fellowship 44th anniversary Alcoholics Anonymous in Bangalore has been organized at St.joseph's boy’s high school, Museum Road, Bangalore-560001, on Sunday 29.06.08 at 9.30a.m.It is a voluntary, worldwide fellowship of men & women who maintain soberiety.This is only for desire to stop drinking. No need of fees or dues is needed for its membership. The chief guest for this event where Mr.Vasant Rao, Deputy Commissioner of B.B.M.P. resources & Petric C.who was state comity chairman of A.A. It is estimated more than 100,000 groups & over 2,200,000 members in 180 countries. There are over 800 groups in India, which hold over 1200 A.A.It has adopted policy of cooperation but non affiliation with other organizations with concerned to alcoholism. Over a year A.A is being fully supporting & neither seeking nor accepting contributions from nonmembers.A.A has contributed limits Rs.20,000 a year.A.A members maintained sobriety by sharing experience, strength & hope at group meetings. Anonymity is a spiritual foundation A.A.anyone in public media is assurance to all AA's especially to newcomers. Anyone may attend A.A meeting because it is open for everyone.A.A has been started in 1935 by a newyork stockbroker & an Ohio surgeon (both now deceased),who has been hopeless drinks. They found A.A is to help person who suffered from alcoholism & to stay sober themselves. IT was an autonomous foundation first in U.S.A. & around the world. A.A doesn't keep membership record or any case history .They joins councils or social agencies.A.A follow up to control its members.A.A can make medical or psychiatric advise. it can provide drying out or nursing services & it also offer religious services. It provides letters of reference to parole boards, lawyers, court officials, social agencies, employers etc.
